About the Property

Raya Heritage occupies a stretch of the Mae Ping riverbank north of Chiang Mai, where the foothills of the Doi Suthep massif begin their ascent. The architecture translates Contemporary Lanna principles into terracotta-roofed pavilions, lacquer-dark timber columns and hand-woven textile installations that honour the material culture of northern Thailand — a luxury property that wears its cultural references with conviction and specificity.

History Timeline

1296

King Mangrai founds Chiang Mai beside the Mae Ping River, which becomes the lifeblood of Lanna trade and the city's primary transport artery.

1874

The teak trade reaches its peak along the Mae Ping; British and Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation vessels navigate the river carrying logs to Bangkok.

1921

A railway line from Bangkok to Chiang Mai is completed, gradually reducing the Mae Ping's role as the principal trade corridor.

1989

Thailand bans commercial logging; the Mae Ping riverbanks transition from industrial timber operations to residential and tourism land use.

2018

Raya Heritage opens as a luxury boutique on the Mae Ping, its contemporary Lanna architecture drawing on the river's centuries of cultural and commercial significance.
